Nika Prevc (SLO) bounced back from yesterday’s disqualification with a statement victory in Wisła, Poland, on Friday.

Jumps of 128m and 130m helped the reigning Crystal Globe champion reach a total of 259.7 points, finishing 12.8 points clear of teammate Nika Vodan (SLO). Eirin Maria Kvandal (NOR) rounded out the podium in third.

It is Prevc’s first-ever victory in Poland and her second World Cup win of the season. Prevc now has a career total of 24 World Cup victories, equalling the total of her brother, Peter Prevc.

The 20-year-old Slovenian set the tone with her opening 128m jump, earning 130.5 points and establishing a 9.9-point lead over teammate and top-qualifier Vodan.

Prevc never relinquished that advantage, and a strong second jump of 130m (129.2 points) secured her triumph.

Her victory came less than 24 hours after a frustrating disqualification in Thursday’s qualification round, where officials ruled her skis to be one centimeter too long relative to her body weight.

Prevc had actually produced the best qualification jump on Thursday (119 m), but the equipment margin rendered her effort invalid.

Returning to the hill on Friday, she qualified in third place behind Vodan and Thursday’s winner Anna Odine Strøm (NOR), before stepping up her game when it mattered most.

Prevc happy with her jumps

“I’m very satisfied with my jumps," Prevc said just after competition. "(I'm happy) That I picked up my mind and my head and did two really good jumps today."

Prevc was the last one up in the second round, just after teammate Vodan had taken the lead. "I'm very happy for her to do so well", Prevc said about her teammate's jumps. "Last season she was out injured, so this is a phenomenal result for her."

Top-qualifier Vodan was outscored by Prevc, but was emotional with her second place - her first World Cup podium since March 2024. "Everything worked", Vodan said afterward. "I'm am so happy to be back on the podium after a long time, especially standing there with Nika (Prevc). This is something I wished (for to happen), and this wish came true."

Kvandal, who sat in fourth after the first jump, moved into third after a strong second jump. "I'm really happy with today", Kvandal said. "Finally I was able to jump well on the hill. Wisła was happy for me today."

With her combined score of 239.5 points, she bumped Nozomi Maruyama (JPN) off the podium. For Maruyama, who has won three World Cups so far this season, it marked her first time missing the podium this season. The Japanese athlete still leads the way in the Crystal Globe standings, however.

Agnes Reisch (GER) rounded out the top five, while Thursday’s winner Strøm finished in sixth. Strøm, who qualified in second, could not quite match the level she delivered a day earlier.

Abigail Strate (CAN), who took second place on Thursday, landed in 10th. A disappointing first jump, scoring 108.8 points, left her with too much ground to make up, and her second jump of 119.0 points was not enough to close the gap.

Next up in Wisla...

The men start their first qualifications in Wisla on Friday evening. Their World Cup events will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

Slovenia’s World Cup leader Anže Lanišek arrives in top form, aiming to continue his winning ways.

Lanišek has fond memories of the Wisła hill, where he earned his first career World Cup podium in 2019 with a second-place finish behind Norway’s Daniel-André Tande.

Last year in Wisła, Daniel Tschofenig (AUT) and Pius Paschke (GER) each claimed victory on the hill.
