Nika Prevc (SLO) completed a perfect weekend in Sapporo, Japan, with a second successive victory. The current World Cup leader equalled Maren Lundby’s (NOR) hill record of 139.5m from 2020 in the first round, while the final round was cancelled due to weather conditions.

Prevc scored 134.5 points to finish 5.3 points clear of Abigail Strate (CAN), who also finished second on Saturday. Heidi Dyhre Traaserud (NOR) rounded out the podium in third with a jump of 135m and 124.6 points.

"I've never seen as much snow as today", Prevc said, referring to the weather conditions in Japan. "I'm happy I was able to do one good jump and won."

Meanwhile, second-place finisher Strate was happy she was able to land on the podium in Sapporo once more. "It was a crazy competition today with only one round", Strate said. "It took a lot of courage for everyone to put their best jumps out there. We only had once chance and it turned out pretty well for me."

For Prevc, it was her 13th victory of the Olympic season so far and her 35th World Cup win overall.

The 20-year-old Slovenian had never made the podium in Sapporo before this weekend, but has now stood on the top step twice. Saturday’s victory saw Prevc equal Sara Takanashi's (JPN) all-time record of World Cup wins at 18 different venues.

Only Takanashi (63 wins) has won more individual World Cup events than Prevc.

Selina Freitag and Agnes Reisch (GER) rounded out the top five in Sapporo, while Sara Takanashi (JPN) delivered the best result for host nation Japan with an eighth place. Her teammate Nozomi Maruyama (JPN) finished twelfth.

Prevc now has a commanding 468-point lead over Maruyama in the overall Crystal Globe rankings. Lisa Eder (AUT) is in third, ahead of Anna Odine Stroem (NOR) and Abigail Strate (CAN).

The women will now travel to Willingen (GER) for next weekend’s World Cup.
