Prevc on top again in Hinzenbach, denying Eder home-snow glory

Nika Prevc (SLO) claimed her fourteenth World Cup victory of the season, topping the leaderboard in Hinzenbach, Austria, on Saturday. Prevc denied Lisa Eder (AUT) a victory on home snow by just 3.0 points. 

For Prevc, who won both events in Hinzenbach last year, this marks her first World Cup win since taking the double in Sapporo (JPN) at the end of January.

With eight World Cup events remaining - including Sunday's event in Hinzenbach - Prevc holds a 566-point lead over Nozomi Maruyama (JPN) in the overall Crystal Globe standings.

The 20-year-old Slovenian took an early first-round lead with a jump of 89m, scoring 128.2 points, before securing her victory with a stellar second-round jump (89m and 130.4 points) for a combined total of 258.6 points.  

"I feel good", Prevc said. "I'm happy with the win today. I came more relaxed to Austria and I hope for the best tomorrow."

Eder held onto her second place throughout, finishing as runner-up on home snow. "Second place at a home World Cup is pretty cool", Eder said. "I had two good jumps and am pretty happy about it."

Two-time Olympic champion Anna Odine Stroem (NOR) landed in third with a combined total of 238.3 points. "It's good to be back at work after a week off after the Olympics", Stroem said with a smile. "It's good to jump again. It's been a long day, I got to work on my jumps and got close to what I can do in the end. It was good being back."

Yuki Ito (JPN) landed in fourth, while Heidi Traaserud (NOR) rounded out the top five. The top-five finishers all maintained their positions from start to finish. 

Crystal Globe runner-up Maruyama landed in 13th on the first day of competition in Hinzenbach.

Competition continues on Sunday, with the Normal Hill World Cup scheduled to start at 15.20.

The men compete in Kulm, Austria, with the second Ski Flying World Cup event taking place on Sunday at 13.30 CET.
