Slovenia claimed the final gold medal of the 2026 FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships following a strong showing in a high-quality Mixed Team event in Lillehammer (NOR).

Last month the nation’s senior team, led by siblings Nika Prevc and Domen Prevc, claimed gold in the Mixed Team event at Milano Cortina 2026, successfully defending the Olympic Winter Games title they initially won at Beijing 2022.

The latest result in Lillehammer (NOR), suggests Slovenia’s production line of talent is well-placed to continue their nation’s proud run of senior success in the years.

On Friday their women’s line-up secured victory in the Women’s Team discipline and two of the athletes who contributed to that success, Taja Terbovsek and Maja Kovacic, returned for the Mixed Team contest and were joined by male athletes Jaka Kramer and Enej Faletic.

They led from the first jump of the opening round and would never surrender that position, despite spirited showings from Austria and Germany.

Slovenia’s four-strong line-up scored an overall total of 977.9 points for their eight jumps to claim victory.

“It means a lot, especially because it’s the first men’s medal of this championships,” said Enej Faletic, after helping Slovenia defend the title they won at the 2025 FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships.

“I’m really happy that I could perform my jumps after struggling in the past two events.”

Team-mate Kovacic added; “For me this competition was really hard. We didn’t really believe we were the best here and I personally didn’t do the best today, but thankfully others did better than me.”

Austria’s team of Sara Pokorny, Nikolaus Humml, Luise Tritschier and Lukas Haagen attained 953.2pts, to take silver.

“It was a great competition I had some good jumps and in general it was an amazing Junior World Championships,” Pokorny told FIS.

Team-mate Haagen added that he thought his personal performance was “quite okay.”

“My last jump wasn’t that good, but I’m happy with the team as it’s always nice to get the medal and it was a good performance to secure the result.”

Germany’s Anna-Fay Scharfenberg, Yann Kullmann, Juliana Kribich and Lasse Deimel completed the podium places, after an enthralling battle with Finland, after attaining an overall score of 936.0pts.

“It means so much to me and all the team together,” said Kreibich. Kullmann added; “Although the first round was quite difficult because everyone around me did good jumps I was happy with the second jump and it’s a great result after a close battle!”
