German snowboard alpine star Ramona Hofmeister has been forced to end her pre-season training camp in Zermatt early after suffering a fracture to her ankle during a training run.

The fall, described by national coach Paul Marks as “the kind of crash every snowboarder has hundreds of times,” unfortunately resulted in a more serious outcome this time, leaving Hofmeister sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Speaking about the setback, Hofmeister emphasized that her top priority now is to heal properly:

“Yes, it’s a setback, but I’ve accepted the circumstances. Priority number one is getting healthy again – the focus is on recovery and listening to my body.”

She also expressed gratitude for the excellent medical care she has received since the accident:

“I really have to give credit to the whole team around me. From the first second I felt in safe hands – the immediate transport home, the quick medical checks, and just the overall feeling of being well looked after.”

Coach Paul Marks added that while the timeline for Hofmeister’s return remains uncertain, the team stands firmly behind her:

“We can only assess the next steps once the injury has healed. Whether this means Ramona can return to racing this season, we will see. But she has our full support, and whatever the path looks like, we’ll go it together.”

The entire FIS family wishes Ramona Hofmeister a smooth and speedy recovery. We look forward to seeing her back on snow when the time is right.
