Phoenix Park to host 2027 Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championships

Phoenix Park (KOR) will welcome the next generation of snowboard alpine athletes when it hosts the FIS Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championships from 13–15 February 2027.

The appointment was confirmed following the recent FIS Council meeting in Thun (SUI), with Phoenix Park selected to stage one of the FIS Junior World Championships taking place during the 2026/27 season.

The three-day programme will feature Parallel Giant Slalom (PGS), Parallel Slalom (PSL) and the Parallel Team event, bringing the world's leading junior snowboard alpine athletes together to compete for Junior World Championship titles in Korea.

FIS Snowboard Alpine Race Director Uwe Beier welcomed the confirmation of Phoenix Park as host.

“We are very happy to bring the Junior World Championships to Korea and especially to a venue like Phoenix Park, which has such a strong history in our sport. We have a great programme with PGS, PSL and the Parallel Team event, and it will be a fantastic opportunity for the best young athletes from around the world to compete at an Olympic venue. We are really looking forward to returning to Korea in February.”

Phoenix Park is no stranger to major international competition. The resort was one of the key venues of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, hosting the Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard competitions, including the snowboard alpine PGS events.

The venue has also previously welcomed the FIS Snowboard Alpine World Cup, giving the 2027 Junior World Championships an established stage for the next generation to compete on.

Korea itself has developed a strong tradition in snowboard alpine over recent years. Sangho Lee made history with his Olympic silver medal at PyeongChang 2018, while Sangkyum Kim added another major success for the country with an Olympic medal at Milano Cortina 2026.

Their achievements have helped establish snowboard alpine as one of Korea's most successful snow sport disciplines, providing an inspiring backdrop as the focus now shifts towards the young athletes who will arrive at Phoenix Park in 2027.

For many of those competitors, the Junior World Championships represent an important step on the pathway towards senior World Cup tour.

With three medal events on the programme and an Olympic venue ready to welcome the world's best juniors, Phoenix Park will once again become an international snowboard alpine meeting point when the FIS Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championships take place from 13–15 February 2027.
