The FIS Telemark World Cup returns this week to Trillevallen, as Sweden hosts a World Cup event for the second consecutive season following last year’s highly successful comeback on the international calendar. Nestled in the mountains of Jämtland, Trillevallen has quickly re-established itself as a distinctive and athlete-friendly venue, combining compact racing infrastructure with a strong local connection to the sport.

The 2024/25 event also marked an important milestone for sustainability, with organizers placing a clear emphasis on reducing fossil fuel use and promoting cleaner transport solutions. That commitment continues this season, reinforcing Trillevallen’s ambition to deliver a World Cup event that balances elite competition with environmental responsibility. The World Cup weekend will be followed by the Swedish Telemark Championships on Sunday, the first national championships held in Sweden in 20 years, adding a unique domestic dimension to the international racing. A Telemark festival will also take place on Sunday, rounding out four full days dedicated to the sport.

Title tussles tightly balanced

After four World Cup events of the 2025-26 season, both the men’s and women’s Overall standings remain closely contested, but with a distinctly Swiss flavour at the top. Narrowly leading the women's Overall table is Léa Lathion (SUI), whose consistency in achieving five podiums from seven races keeps her ahead of Norway's Gøril Strøm Eriksen, last year's triple Globe winner Jasmin Taylor (GBR), and French flyers Laly Chaucheprat and Camille Bourbon.

Over on the men's side, Nicolas Michel (SUI) - who came second in the Overall, Sprint and Parallel Sprint standings in 24/25 - is clearly determined to go one better this term, securing three wins and seven podiums from seven races to forge ahead of his closest chasers, French trio Yoann Rostolan, Alexis Page and Theo Sillon.

With so many athletes still firmly in the hunt for the Crystal Globes, the Trillevallen Sprint races represent an important opportunity to gain momentum, along with valuable World Cup points.
