When music meets Telemark Skiing – The Race to Rave project
Dec 18, 2025·Telemark)
Music softens manners, captures emotions, and inspires generations. It plays an undeniable role in sports—especially in snow sports. Telemark skiing is no exception, often described as “dancing on snow.”
Driven by their passion for telemark skiing and music, Alexis Page and Théo Sillon—World Cup athletes and members of Nauru Music—have launched the Race to Rave project. Their aim? To unite athletes and spectators for an unforgettable World Cup closing celebration.
The project will debut at the Telemark World Cup in Pinzolo, Italy (19–20 December).
We asked Alexis and Théo a few questions:
– People often say that telemark skiing is like dancing on snow. How does that sound to you?
It’s a comparison we hear a lot, and it makes sense. Telemark skiing requires constant balance, personal style, and has a natural elegance. So yes, the image of dance resonates with us.
– How did the idea of creating a duo come about?
We’ve been making music together for four years, exploring everything from rock to house. Théo introduced Alex to composing—which he’s been doing for about ten years—and Alex brought fresh ideas thanks to his broad musical knowledge. This synergy gave birth to Nauru as we know it today.
– What are your musical influences?
We draw inspiration from many styles, but right now our main influences come from UK garage and house. In short: music that blends well and creates a festive vibe. We want to move away from overplayed classics and offer something new—music that makes you smile and move.
– Playlist: Which tracks best describe “Race to Rave”?
• She’s Gone, Dance One – Disclosure
• We’ve Lost Dancing – Fred Again
• Relax My Eyes – ANOTR
– You are competitors, but sharing music with all practitioners seems important to you. Why?
Because it creates opportunities for everyone to come together. We want to avoid people scattering after races; music is the perfect excuse to create a collective moment.
– It’s well known that telemarkers know how to celebrate. Would you say that’s part of telemark culture?
We won’t answer that question for professional reasons.
