Anna Trocker makes history with Slalom title at Narvik 2026
Mar 14, 2026·Alpine SkiingAnna Trocker became the first Italian woman to win two individual golds at a single edition of the FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships when she added the Slalom title to her Giant Slalom crown in Narvik, Norway.
The 17-year-old dominated the field with a winning margin of 2.29secs over Leonie Raich of Austria who clinched her second straight silver.
Aado Kanto also wrote a new line in the history books when she became the first Finnish skier to win an individual medal at the junior world championships with bronze.
Trocker is the first woman to win two individual titles at a single championships since Hanna Aronsson Elfman (SWE) who also won the Giant Slalom/Slalom double at St Anton 2023.
It sees her leave Narvik with two individual golds and a silver in Team Combined with Ludovica Righi.
“It’s unbelievable, amazing,” said Trocker. “I don’t realise it yet but I’m so happy.”
Asked to explain her dominance, she added: “I tried my best in the first run and also the second run and yeah, it’s crazy.”
Trocker was the first through the start gate on run one and although she made some mistakes on the upper section, she recovered with her flowing, speedy run propelling her through the finish line in 55.71secs.
She remained in top spot throughout the first run with Raich 1.22secs adrift in second followed by Austria teammate Valentina Rings-Wanner (1.29secs), Australian Phoebe Heaydon (1.61secs) and Luisa Illig of Germany (2.19secs).
Kanto was 11th after the first run but her 56.50secs second outing and total 1:55.37 elevated her into the lead.
Eight more women came down the course and when Rings-Wanner completed her second run without dislodging Kanto, it guaranteed a medal for the Finn who was overcome with emotion.
Raich battled her way through in 56.95secs to move into the lead with a total 1:53.88 with only Trocker to go.
The Italian teenager showcased timing and rhythm to post a 55.88secs second run for a total 1:51.59, 2.29secs ahead of Raich and 3.78secs in front of Kanto.
Raich – who adds Slalom silver to Team Combined bronze with Pia Hauzenberger – had struggled throughout the course.
She said: “I’m totally happy. The conditions were so difficult and it was a fight from the top to the finish and I really tried to survive down there. Amazing feeling in the finish to see the number one.”
She added: “I got information at the start to just fight for your life and that’s what I did.”
It was emotional for Kanto who claimed Finland’s second medal in Narvik following Team Parallel silver.
“I still can’t believe it’s true,” she said. “I’ve had a really tough season and I decided that today I’m just going to have fun and ski and oh my God!
“Crazy! I don’t know – I’m so happy.”
