With the 2026/27 winter season approaching, ski nations across the world are beginning to unveil their national team selections, offering an early glimpse at the athletes set to shape the upcoming World Cup campaign. Powerhouses such as Switzerland, Austria, Germany, the United States and Norway are among the first to confirm strong and ambitious squads blending established champions with the sport’s next generation of talent.

Swiss-Ski looks back on another successful season

A strong season has come to an end for Swiss-Ski. While the men’s team showed consistency from the very beginning, the women’s speed team faced a more challenging start to the winter, as two key athletes Lara Gut-Behrami and Corinne Suter were sidelined with injuries. With Suter returning to competition in January, the team regained an important member and further strengthened its lineup for the remainder of the season.

Overall, the 2025/26 campaign brought success on several fronts: nine medals at the Olympic Winter Games, victory in the Nations Cup, and three Crystal Globes one overall title and two discipline trophies. Throughout the World Cup winter, Swiss athletes also demonstrated remarkable consistency, collecting a total of 50 podium finishes across the men’s and women’s circuits.

For the upcoming season, a total of 104 athletes have been selected for Swiss-Ski’s national structures. The National Team has been reshaped and now consists of 15 members: Luca Aerni, Gino Caviezel, Loïc Meillard, Alexis Monney, Tanguy Nef, Marco Odermatt, Stefan Rogentin, Thomas Tumler and Franjo von Allmen for the men's team, while Malorie Blanc, Lara Gut-Behrami, Wendy Holdener, Mélanie Meillard, Camille Rast and Corinne Suter have been selected on the women's side.

Looking ahead, one of the major highlights of the season will be the World Championships in Crans-Montana a key moment on home snow and a special opportunity for the Swiss team to build on its momentum in front of a home crowd.

On the women’s side, the A-Team will be spearheaded by Mina Fuerst Holtmann, Kajsa Vickhoff Lie and Thea Louise Stjernesund, while Marte Monsen and Madeleine Sylvester-Davik complete the B-Team lineup.

Germany names top alpine ski teams for new season

The German Ski Association (DSV) has unveiled its selections for the upcoming alpine skiing season, confirming the athletes named to the elite “Lehrgangsgruppe 1a” — the federation’s highest training and support tier. The squad reflects the DSV’s confidence in both established World Cup contenders and the next generation of German skiing talent ahead of the new winter campaign.

Leading the selections is versatile star Emma Aicher, who stayed in the hunt for the overall Crystal Globe until the final run of the final race of last season. She is joined by rising names such as Fabiana Dorigo and Anton Grammel, while experienced slalom ace Linus Strasser once again headlines the men’s technical squad.
