After a lack of snow forced Local Organisers in the 2014-15 season to cancel the originally scheduled snowboard cross World Cup and replace it by a parallel slalom event for their debut as a World Cup host, Cortina d'Ampezzo has committed itself to annual alpine snowboard action under the lights ever since.

On December 16, 2017, Cortina will organise its third consecutive World Cup making the middle of December a thrilling time for the raceboard stars with back-to-back races in Italy within only three days (Dec 14 brings a PGS in Carezza).

However, it's the first time for some wider turns as a PGS will be run in the 2018 Olympic winter.
