Sundling and Pellegrino take the win at the Lillehammer sprint

Joanna Sundling took her maiden win at the Lillehammer sprint in freestyle

Jonna Sundling (SWE) and Federico Pellegrino (ITA) secure first win of the Lillehammer Mini-Tour. A special success for the young Swedish athlete as it is her first World Cup podium ever.

Just like the previous weekend, the Swedish team showed a strong performance with Sundling reaching the top of the podium at the ladies, 0.34 seconds before her team colleague Stina Nilsson who won the race at Lillehammer in the previous year. A strong performance throughout the heats was also shown by Sadie Bjornsen (USA) and thus was rewarded with the 3rd place.

Federico Pellegrino extended his all-time record of winning individual sprint in freestyle and took another win, the 11th in the discipline sprint f. Emil Iversen (NOR) and Alex Harvey (CAN) challenged Pellegrino throughout the final heat. Iversen finished second 0.47 seconds behind Pellegrino and Harvey on third with 0.71 seconds behind the top rank.

But the skis were good, the skis were good and even the mind was in a good shape.
