Kitzbuehel is a top level World Cup organiser and this year again, they started their racing schedule with an European Cup race held on the legendary Streif.

At the prize-giving ceremony the top 5 racers couldn’t have been happier. Daniel Danklmaier was visibly moved as he accepted his first Hahnenkamm trophy. At the press conference he remarked: “It was a close one, but I’m so happy about this victory! The Streif has always been my favourite course and my next goal is to participate in the World Cup this weekend.“

Swiss racer Nils Mani came second and was in a positive mood after the race: “It wasn’t a perfect run but, in the end, I didn’t lose first place – I won second place!“

Lars Roesti took third place and explains that he hadn’t been banking on a podium spot: “I’ve really improved in comparison to the training and I just felt great during the race.” After this achievement, he would like to apply for the World Cup.

A Kitzbühel “Gams“ trophy was also presented to Christof Brandner (GER) and Florian Schieder (ITA), the fourth and fifth ranked racers.

The World Cup is now taking over the Streif and will start with a downhill training run tomorrow and on Thrusday at 11:30. The race program on the week-end includes the super-g on Friday (11:30), the Hahnenkamm downhill on Saturday (11:30) and the slalom on Ganslern on Sunday (10:30/13:30).
