In the fourth Giant Slalom race of the season, Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) returns to win in the discipline by taking her 63rd victory on the same track where she earned her first career podium in 2013.
What's happened since then? "Only" 63 World Cup victories that catapulted her into outright second place on the women's winners list.

Shiffrin prevailed by 1.36 seconds over Italian Marta Bassino and by 1.82 seconds over Katharina Liensberger: "It's pretty hard to believe this right now," Shiffrin said. "I know that sounds strange, but it is. … It sounds a little bit stupid, actually, to say the last week was a tough time because I still have already an amazing season. One bad race, it's stupid, really. It's just ski racing. But I care."

Marta Bassino (ITA), who won Killington's Giant slalom last month, has been able to put 7 World Cup podiums under her belt with today's race and the Austrian Katharina Liensberger achieved her first ever Giant Slalom podium with an outstanding second run.

Lienz's weekend is not finished yet, and the women's will move on with the traditional slalom race.
