Zan Kranjec (SLO) is the man of the moment in Giant Slalom. The Slovenian, who had always finished top 4 in Giant Slalom this season, claims in Adelboden (SUI) his second World Cup victory. Kranjec skied a terrific second run, always pushing to the limit and climbed up five positions from the first run.
Another man, who surprised the huge crowd in Adelboden today, is Filip Zubcic (CRO),. The Croatian talent started with bib 20 and thanks to two solid runs, achieved his first World Cup podium finishing second, 0.29s behind the Slovenian.
The third spot of the podium was a place for two. French Muffat-Jeandet and Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen closed their race in tied third position (+0.66s), excluding Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (NOR) from the party by only 0.02s.
Worth mentioning is the first run of Italian duo composed of Luca de Aliprandini and Giovanni Borsotti, who were respectively in first and second place after the first run at the “Chuenisbärgli”, but did not manage to keep up with the best ones in the second run.
Thanks to his incredible consistency (once fourth, twice third and first today), Zan Kranjec is now leading the Giant Slalom standings and will start with the red bib in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER) next month.
Kristoffersen keeps leading the overall ranking, only 12 points ahead of teammate and speed ace Kilde, who showed again that he can be really fast even in a technical discipline like Giant Slalom.
Tomorrow the second race of the weekend, a slalom this time, is going down in Adelboden before the tour heads to Wengen (SUI).
