Sudden passing of Nikolay Chebotko (KAZ)

It is with great sadness that FIS learned of the passing of Nikolay Chebotko on Sunday, 24th January 2021. At the young age of 38, the Kazakh passed away after a tragic car accident.

Nikolay Chebotko participated at 4 Olympic Winter Games, 7 World Ski Championships and a grand total of 188 World Cup competitions. After three individual World Cup podiums in 2008 and 2009, Chebotko claimed a World Cup victory in the Team Sprint in Quebec (CAN) in 2012 and doubled the team success up one year later in Asiago (ITA) with a second rank. The Olympic bronze medal at the Team Sprint in Val di Fiemme (ITA) in 2013, marked a final milestone in the successful career of Nikolay Chebotko.

FIS would like to offer its deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Nikolay Chebotko, as well as to the Ski Federation of Kazakhstan.
