24 year-old Erik Valnes from Norway has started his season with setting a milestone to his career. By a margin of 0.61 seconds he takes the victory before Johannes Høsflot Klæbo. The Norwegian podium sweep was completed by Emil Iversen.

"This victory means everything to me right now. I tried all my life to be the best that I can and having this World Cup victory is the best thing I could asked for. I learned a lot (from Johannes) as he is the best sprinter of all times and I am happy to be with him in the team. It is very special to beat him in a track like this."Erik Valnes

Indeed, Klæbo and Valnes challenged each other right from the qualification round and sprinted to a thrilling final.
