FIS Cross-Country World Cup finals 2022 in Falun - preview

The Lugnet stadium in Falun, Sweden will be the host of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup final events of the 2021/22 season. In three event days, the decisions will fall who will reach the final Overall World Cup standings. A few spots are already fixed and can't be challenged anymore. However, with Sprint, Distance and Team events on schedule, all athletes in Falun can still race for the top spots.
Overall World Cup ranking
Natalia Nepryaeva and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo have ensured their Overall World Cup victory already pre-finals. With 973 points, Nepryaeva is 241 points ahead of Ebba Andersson, followed by Jessie Diggins and Krista Pärmäkoski. The three are close enough together in points to have the silver and bronze medal distributed among them.
In the Men's Overall, Alexander Bolshunov is the current second ranked of the World Cup season. With Iivo Niskanen on third place and also on the start line, the Finn has to earn top points to reach the second place but has a top-3 finish of the season secured already.
Sprint World Cup ranking
Maja Dahlqvist will be the grand celebrated Sprint athlete in front of her home crowd. The Swede who lives only 20km far away from Falun, has already secured the Sprint World Cup victory of the season 2021/22 with her outstanding series of Sprint victories. The second place is still open with Anamarija Lampic (SLO), Jessie Diggins (USA) and Jonna Sundling (SWE) fighting for the best spots. For third, also Johanna Hagström has her eyes set on catching some points during Fridays Sprint in Classic technique.
The Men's Sprint standing is led by Johannes Høsflot Klæbo - only Richard Jouve from France can challenge the Norwegian. Jouve's only chance is to win the Sprint in Classic technique, as the Norwegian is absent, this is the chance for Jouve to win the Sprint World Cup 2021/22.
With Lucas Chanavat, a second French man has his focus on the Sprint Overall podium and the places will be distributed among those three.
Distance World Cup ranking
Therese Johaug and Iivo Niskanen will take the small Distance Overall World Cup globes home. By dominating the Distance World Cup races this season, they have both earned their victories in the standings.
Frida Karlsson, Krista Pärmäkoski and Ebba Andersson are the further contenders for rank 2 and 3 in the Distance ranking.
On the Men's ranking list, only Martin Løwestrøm Nyenget from Norway can stir up the silver and bronze spots as Iivo Niskanen currently shares the podium with Alexander Bolshunov and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (which are both absent this weekend).

Mixed Relay
Each nation can enter 2 teams.
Each team consists of 2 women and 2 men.
Each athlete will race in free technique in the order: woman / man / man / woman
Mixed Team Sprint
Each nation can enter 2 teams.
Qualification:
Entered athletes will each ski one lap (in interval start). The times of both skiers will be cumulated and the 20 best teams are qualified for the finals. The Team Sprint qualification will not be shown in the FIS Live App.
Finals:
6 laps per athlete and the last 2 teams will be eliminated each 2nd lap.
