German Cross-Country National Team 2023

The season 2021/22 has been the most successful season for the German Cross-Country skiers in recent years. 25 year-old Katharina Hennig has paved the way and is setting milestones in her personal career since two years. With the team successes of Olympic Silver in the Relay and Olympic Gold in the Teamsprint, Hennig has outreached her own plans for the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing 2022.

The very well deserved success was now rewarded with a spot in the German National Team with the specific status “Olympiakader” – Olympic Team. Along Katharina’s side are her colleagues from the successful Relay team, Victoria Carl, Sofie Krehl and Katherine Sauerbrey.

Especially Katherine Sauerbrey stands out in the team as the 25 year-old talent has only just entered the World Cup circuit by competing the full Tour de Ski 2021/22 and finished with the incredible 19th rank. This superb result qualified Katherine for the Olympic Games where she recorded a 13th rank in Skiathlon, 11th rank in the 10km Classic and was part of the Silver medal winning Relay Team.

The “Olympiakader” of the German women’s team will train together with the national team status’ athletes of Pia Fink, Laura Gimmler, Lisa Lohmann and Coletta Rydzek.

Also the men’s choice for the “Olympiakader” follows the similar selection criterias as with Lucas Bögl, Friedrich Moch, Janosch Brugger and Florian Notz – all members of the successful men’s Olympic Relay Team (5th rank) have been nominated. Albert Kuchler and Jonas Dobler join the men’s team with the national team status.
