Slopestyle and big air skier Dara Howell will be sitting out the remainder of the 2018/19 season. A bad fall at the first Big Air World Cup in Cardrona, New Zealand in August resulted in a torn anterior cruciate knee ligament, for which she underwent surgery.

“I made a small error of judgement during the competition, which resulted in this injury,” said the athlete. “I’ll be taking the next year to rehab and recover from the operation. My intent is to be back on the slopes as quickly as possible. I appreciate all the support I’ve received in the past few weeks, especially from my teammates and coaches.”

The Sochi 2014 Olympic gold medallist in slopestyle, Howell finished last season with a first-place performance at the Jamboree big air World Cup in Quebec City.
