Switzerland's Sarah Hoefflin won the final Freeski Slopestyle World Cup of the 2025/26 season on home snow in Silvaplana (SUI) as runner-up Kirsty Muir (GBR) secured her third Freeski Slopestyle podium of the season to claim the women’s Crystal Globe.
In the men’s final, Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Freeski Slopestyle champion Birk Ruud (NOR) topped the field on Saturday to claim his second World Cup victory of the season and his seventh career Crystal Globe.
Hoefflin was the first to claim victory in Silvaplana’s Corvatsch course on Saturday after the 35-year-old continued her strong form from the morning qualifications to post a first run score of 80.07.
Great Britain's Kirsty Muir looked intent on beating that score and bettering her own first-run score of 75.54, but like many of her peers, struggled with course speed in her second attempt.
Hoefflin began her winning run with a rail back 270 on the first rail, then a right front 450, a left dub 1080 safety, a right 540 mute, a switch right dub 1080 mute, a switch left 360 and switch right 270 to switch, then a switch left 270 to switch on the last section.
Team-mate Giulia Tanno (SUI) was third behind Muir on 70.53.
For Hoefflin, Saturday’s victory marks her first World Cup victory in six years and comes after the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Freeski gold medalist did not progress to the finals at last week’s Freeski Slopestyle World Cup in Tignes (FRA).
The 35-year-old said she felt emotional winning on home snow.
“I had such a difficult season and I almost just gave up,” said Hoefflin.
“I’m just so happy to be out here and honestly just landing a run today was the only thing I wanted to do, and I achieved that this morning during qualis. Landing a second run in finals means a lot.”
Hoefflin said Saturday’s win will be good for her confidence after a difficult season of mixed performances, which also included not progressing to the finals in Freeski Slopestyle and Freeski Big Air at the recent Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
“I really came in here not believing in myself. But being back here, honestly, it’s given me such a boost and I just want to keep that momentum going for next year.
“I still have projects, I still have a lot of good skiing left in me. I still want to be able to land a run with three dubs one day, and it will come.”
For team-mate Tanno, her third-place in Silvaplana follows last week’s third-place finish in Freeski Big Air in Tignes. Before her Silvaplana and Tignes podiums, 27-year-old Tanno last recorded a top-three result in 2021.
Muir’s second-place finish in Silvaplana marks her fourth podium of the 2025/26 FIS Freeski Park and Pipe season after she won the penultimate Freeski Slopestyle World Cup in Tignes last week.
With Saturday’s result, Muir extended her lead over the women’s Freeski Slopestyle standings by 80 points to win the Crystal Globe on 280.
In the men’s Freeski Slopestyle final on Saturday, reigning World Champion Birk Ruud (NOR) was the second skier after Hoefflin to post a score above 80 and top his field with 83.52.
Estonia’s Henry Sildaru came close to catching Ruud with his second-run score of 76.41, while Mac Forehand (USA) was third on 78.47.
Ruud claimed his second Freeski Slopestyle win of the season after beginning his first run with a switch right 270 front 810, then a left 270 continuing bio 810 Japan, a left nose butter dub cork 1620 safety, a switch right dub cork 1440 safety, a switch left dub cork 1620 blunt, a right misty 540 Japan and switch left back swap to forward, then a right Tokyo drift 270 continuing 270 on the final section.
“I didn’t have the best training, so when you can put it down when it matters, it’s just a beautiful feeling.”
With Saturday’s victory, Ruud extended his lead in the men’s standings to win the men’s Freeski Slopestyle Crystal Globe on 280 points, and currently sits on top the men’s overall Freeski Park and Pipe standings on 338 points with one event to go.
Sildaru’s second-place result on Saturday follows his third-place finish in Tignes last week, and marks his third World Cup podium after the 19-year-old claimed his maiden top-three result in Snowmass (USA) in January when he was also runner-up.
Winning the men’s Freeski Slopestyle Crystal Globe in Silvaplana is a fitting end for Ruud who began his season with a World Cup victory in Laax (SUI) in January on his way to winning Olympic Freeski Slopestyle gold at Milano Cortina 2026 in February to add to his Beijing 2022 gold in Freeski Big Air.
Before the 2025/26 season, Ruud also became World Champion a second time in 2025 on Silvaplana’s Corvatsch course during the Engadin 2025 Freeski World Championships.
Saturday’s contest in Silvaplana is the fifth and final Freeski Slopestyle World Cup of the 2025/26 FIS Park and Pipe season.
