Despite the best efforts of the organisers at the FIS Freeski Big Air World Cup Destne (CZE), the decision has been made to cancel the final women’s big air competition of the 2019/20 season.

While every effort was made to construct a big air jump that could showcase the best possible performances from all athletes, heavy rains in the lead-up to the event and changing weather conditions throughout the week resulted in limited quality training opportunities for the women’s field on the Destne jump.

After discussion with athletes, team representatives, organisers, and officials, all parties agreed that it would not be possible to hold a fair and safe women’s competition after the difficult weather faced this week in Destne.

With this decision taken, Switzerland’s Giulia Tanno finishes 2019/20 with 240 points, giving her top spot on the season and her first career crystal globe win. Second place overall with 200 points is Mathilde Gremaud, also of Switzerland, while Norway’s Johanne Killi rounds out the big air top-3 in third place with 195 points.

The final awards ceremony for both women and men will take place after the men’s competition in Destne on Saturday evening.
