Manuel Faißt proved once more that he likes Holmenkollen in Oslo by setting the Provisional Competition Round victory.

In changing conditions, Faißt jumped to 128.5 metres and a point total of 127 put him eight seconds in the lead of Franz-Josef Rehrl, should the PCR have to be used tomorrow. Rehrl showed 127.5 metres (125 p.). Fabian Rießle jumped to the third position with a jump of 129 metres, 124.1 points would mean a 12 second delay at the start line.

The longest jump of the day came from Japan’s Go Yamamoto who landed at 132 metres in very good conditions. -12 wind points had him ranking fourth with 120.1 points and a 28-second delay should the PCR have to be used. Terence Weber and Jarl Magnus Riiber followed at +0:32 and +0:33 before a bigger gap opened to Hideaki Nagai (125.5 m; 113.6 p, +0:54). Francois Braud, Johannes Lamparter and Espen Bjørnstad completed the Top Ten but would have times of over one minute to make up in the race.

Akito and Yoshito Watabe did not have their best jumps in the PCR and ranked only 11th and 20th respectively. As only 46 athletes were on start due to sicknesses of Bernhard Gruber (AUT) and Jørgen Graabak (NOR) the Provisional Competition Round did not count as a qualification and all athletes will be on start for the Individual Gundersen event tomorrow.
