Seefeld World Champion and Nordic Combined legend Eric Frenzel made a stop at his hometown Geyer’s Bingefest last weekend - and was received in style by 600 enthusiastic fans following his triumph in Austria last winter.

Mayor Harald Wendler gifted Frenzel with a wooden likeness carved by woodcarver Ronny Tschierske. Frenzel and his fans relieved his moments of triumph on video and also Eric’s family was asked on stage to recount their recollection of the events.

After that, Frenzel’s club mates Linda Schumacher (cross-country) and Terence Weber, who can look back on a great season in the Nordic Combined World Cup, were honoured as well.

SSV President Jens Anders once more expressed his joy about Frenzel’s change of club back to his childhood club SSV Geyer last summer.

“It was a matter of the heart for me to at least win one medal for my childhood club”, Frenzel said. “That I succeeded on the first try is really great.”
