After yesterday’s Team Sprint competition, Austrian veteran Bernhard Gruber complained about chest pains again and it turned out that he suffered from further constrictions of his coronary blood vessels.

When his pains occurred, he was first treated on location by the local health crew and ÖSV doctor Dr. Ines Berger-Uckermann and then transported to the local hospital.

“After the race today, Bernhard Gruber's problems with partial blockages of coronary blood vessels led to complaints again. After a detailed diagnosis on site, he was taken to the local hospital, where two stents were placed as part of a cardiac catheter examination. Bernhard is so far in good shape and has to stay in the hospital for a few more days depending in how his recovery goes, ”said Dr. Berger-Uckermann.

Gruber received the same diagnosis in mid-March of last year. Eight months later, after extensive checks, he received medical clearance for high-performance sport at the beginning of November and then resumed training with the ÖSV team.
