Lovro Kos from Slovenia celebrated his first World Cup victory in Lake Placid (USA) on Saturday.
Kos came out on top on the 128-meter HS hill in Lake Placid in a nail-biting final ahead of Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi and Norway's Marius Lindvik.
The form curve of the Slovenian Lovro Kos continues to point steeply upwards.
After ever-improving results over the course of the winter and the World Championship title with the Slovenian team at the Ski Flying World Championships at Kulm two weeks ago, Kos was able to celebrate his first World Cup victory today.
In a competition characterized by difficult wind conditions, Kos won by a wafer-thin margin of 0.8 points ahead of Ryoyu Kobayashi and Norway's Marius Lindvik, who was a further 0.3 points behind.
"I'm really surprised about my victory, after my final jump I really didn't think it would be enough to win today," said the 24-year-old, who was still in 6th place after the first round.

Michael Hayboeck, Daniel Huber and Aleksander Zniszczol took 4th - 6th place, followed by last year's winner Andreas Wellinger in 7th place. "My jumps just weren't good enough today, I can do better," said Wellinger, annoyed with himself after the competition.
Felix Hoffmann from the German team did very well in 11th place, with Karl Geiger right behind him in 12th.

In contrast, the competition did not go according to plan for World Cup leader Stefan Kraft from Austria.
Kraft had dominated the trial jump in the early morning and was also in the lead after the first round of the competition.
But then a mistake and poor conditions followed in the final and Kraft had to be satisfied with 24th place in the end.
"It was a bad jump and then I also had bad conditions," said the frustrated Kraft after the competition.
"One thing led to another. I didn't expect it myself and thought that Kraft would win easily and confidently. It's time to tick it off now," explained ÖSV head coach Andreas Widhölzl.

Kraft still leads the overall World Cup with 1136 points, 149 points ahead of Andreas Wellinger (seventh place today / 987 points). Ryoyu Kobayashi in third place has 976 points to his name.

The next competition for the ski jumpers in Lake Placid follows this evening at 23:00 cet (17:00 local time) with the Super Team Event.
