Russia: Titles to Avvakumova and Moscovskaya Oblast

Irina Avvakumova and the teams of Moscovskaya Oblast claimed the titles at the Russian national championships over the last couple of days in Chaikovsky.

27-year-old Irina Avvakumova, who took a break last winter and participated only in very few international competitions, won the ladies' individual competition on the HS 102 normal hill with 89.5 m and 92 m and 218.3 points.
Sofia Tikhonova, with 85.5 m only seventh after the first round, moved up to second with 93 m in the final and a total of 202.7 points, Lidiia Iakovleva came in third with her jumps of 86 m and 88 m and 200.3 points.

The mixed team event was dominated by Moscovskaya Oblast, represented by Irina Avvakumova, Mikhail Nazarov, Alexandra Kustova and Ilmir Hazetdinov, with their total of 827.4 points.
Clearly behind the winners in this competition, the second place went to the team of St. Petersburg (Lidiia Iakovleva, Alexandr Marchukov, Sofia Tikhonova, Vladislav Boyarintsev) with 673.9 points, Perm, with Glafira Noskova, Vladislav Mustafin, Ksenia Kablukova, and Egor Usachev followed in third with 602.5 points.

The athletes of Moscovskaya Oblast were also unbeatable in the men's team event, which was held on the HS 140 large hill. Nikolai Matavin, Mikhail Nazarov, Ilmir Hazetdinov and Dmitriy Vassiliev won with 902.8 points. Nizhny Novgorod (Denis Kornilov, Alexander Sardyko,  Mikhail Maksimochkin, Roman Trofimov) came in second with 755.4 points, the Republic of Tatarstan (Artem Redzhepov, Alexander Loginov, Danil Sadreev, Maksim Sergeev) was third with 697.3 points.
