The Ski Jumping team of Slovenia claimed the expected win in Saturday's team competition at the Ski Flying World Cup in Planica (SLO). Ziga Jelar, Peter Prevc, Timi Zajc, and Anze Lanisek won on the HS 240 Letalnica-hill ahead of the teams of Norway and Austria in front of 20000 enthusiastic fans. Poland and Germany came in fourth and fifth.

Slovenia's had a clear lead in the end, but they had to fight a lot harder than everyone had expected: The reason for that was, first and foremost, the outstanding performance of Marius Lindvik. Lindvik, the reigning Ski Flying World Champion showed two amazing flights and scored 435.2 points, by far the most in this competition. But in the end, the Slovenian team was just too strong.

"It was very emotional today, especially, when everyone expects you to win. I'm very happy that we managed to do this in front of such a nice crowd and in this kind of weather", said Slovenian head coach Robert Hrgota.

Team Norway, Team Slovenia, Team Austria

Slovenia scored 1601.1 points, Norway 1576.9 points, and Austria came in third with 1544.2 points. It was the 12th win in the World Cup for a Slovenian team, the third one in Planica. Peter Prevc was on the team for all of these 12 wins, a special achievement of the Slovenian superstar.

Besides Lindvik, Halvor Egner Granerud also showed a very strong performance for Norway (Marius Lindvik, Bendik Jakobsen Heggli, Johann Andre Forfang, Halvor Egner Granerud). Stefan Kraft was the best of the Austrian team with his jumps of 237.5 m and 241 m.
Poland came in fourth with 1522 points, Germany finished fifth (1425.8 points).

With the win of Slovenia and the third place of Austria today, the race for the Nations Cup title got very exciting. Austria (5694 points) now leads ahead of Slovenia (5500 points) and Germany (5339 points). Given how strong the Slovenians are in Ski Flying they still have a chance to claim the title on Sunday. It would be the first time for Slovenia and a sensational success after they were only fourth before the weekend in Planica.
Timi Zajc now leads the overall ranking of the Planica 7.
