Polish jumpers dominate in Wisla

After Dawid Kubacki won the season opener on Saturday, Kamil Stoch took the win in the second Grand Prix competition of the weekend in Wisla (POL). On Sunday, Stoch won on the HS 134 hill with a total score of 256.6 points (132.5 m and 126.5 m), he came in 4.2 points ahead of Kubacki. In changing conditions, the third place went to Jakub Wolny, who completed the Polish podium sweep.
Poles are on top of the Grand Prix overall ranking
After two competitions, Kamil Stoch and Dawid Kubacki lead the overall ranking of the FIS Grand Prix with 180 points each. Jakub Wolny follows in third with 110 points, and Karl Geiger is fourth (100 points).
"Dawid is the king of the summer, it will be difficult to defeat him in the Grand Prix ranking, but I'll give it my all", Stoch said regarding their joint lead in the Grand Prix. "My second jump today was not as good as the first one, I think I was too tense, that's a problem I sometimes have. But it showed me that not everything has to be perfect, sometimes I can make mistakes and still win. What's most important for me is that I enjoy Ski Jumping. I'm happy about the win, even if it is only summer and not all the top athletes were competing", Stoch added.
Stoch's teammate Dawid Kubacki stated: "We fought until the end, I really wanted to win. Yesterday I had a bit more luck, today it was Kamil, so we split up the wins equally. I think that everyone on our team is satisfied. Even if the conditions were changing, it was a great day for our team."
Andreas Wellinger was the best of the German team in fourth today, Karl Geiger confirmed his top result on Saturday with the sixth place today, Pius Paschke completed the good team result for Germany in ninth.
The surprise of the day was Austria's Francisco Moerth, who convinced in fifth.
Domen Prevc and Junshiro Kobayashi were seventh and eighth and secured top results for Slovenia and Japan. Niko Kytosaho (12th) and Artti Aigro (13th) achieved strong results for the second time this weekend.
The men's Grand Prix continues in two weeks in Courchevel (FRA), where an individual competition on the large hill will be held.
