The FIS Park & Pipe Australia New Zealand Cup (ANC) series continues this week at New Zealand’s Cardrona Alpine Resort, where halfpipe and slopestyle competitions for both snowboard and freeski will take place as part of this year’s Winter Games NZ from 1-4 September.

Slopestyle finals for both snowboard and freeski will be going down on Saturday, 2 September, with halfpipe finals for both disciplines happening on Sunday, 3 September (local time and date).

The upcoming ANC competitions will be New Zealand’s first FIS Park & Pipe events to feature international athletes since the onset of the covid-19 pandemic, and with many of the top nations and riders already on hand in Cardrona for training ahead of the upcoming World Cup season, the possibility for some big names to be dropping in on the Winter Games NZ is high.

Cardrona has long been a host of FIS World Cup and Continental Cup action, with a competition history dating back to 2007 on the Snowboard side of things, and to 2011 for Freeski, with some of the biggest names in the history of each discipline earning podiums at the resort over the years.

The last time FIS competition was part of the Winter Games NZ was at the start of the 2019/20 season when snowboard big air and freeski halfpipe events were two of the highlights of the Games, and talks are underway for the World Cup to rejoin the WGNZ programme again next season.

The upcoming ANC competitions at the 2022 Winter Games NZ an exciting early-season stop on the FIS Park & Pipe calendar, and we’re excited to see how it all goes down as we look forward to bringing World Cup action back to Cardrona as soon as possible.
