The 2022 South American Cup season continued through the weekend and into Monday of this week, with five big days of action going down at Argentina’s Cerro Catedral resort - including two freeski slopestyle and two freeski big air events, as well as two snowboard slopestyle and two snowboard big air competitions.

On the freeski side of things three skiers dominated the proceedings, with Francisco Salas (CHI), Cristobal Colombo (ARG) and Sean Jenson (USA) each scoring four podiums in four events.

Chile’s Salas and Argentina’s Colombo put together the best string of results, with Salas winning both of the slopestyle competitions while grabbing a second place and a third place result in the big air competitions, and Colombo winning both of the big air events while grabbing a second and a third in the slopestyle.

Jenson, meanwhile, had a second and a third place in big air, and a second and a third in slopestyle.

On the women’s side of things it was Chilean veteran Dominique Ohaco winning both of the slopestyle competitions (big air events were not held for the women).

Over in the weekend’s snowboard action we saw another Chilean put together a tidy few days of riding, as Alvaro Yanez won both the big air competitions while also grabbing a second place finish in the second slopestyle competition.

However, the most podiums of the weekend for the riders went to Argentina’s own Federico Chiaradio de la Iglesia, with a win and a third place finish in slopestyle, as well as a second place and a third place finish in the big air events.

The other snowboard slopestyle victory went to Chiaradio de la Iglesia’s Argentine teammate Manuel Fasola.

With the 2022/23 competition season rapidly approaching in the northern hemisphere, there’s just one more stop left on this year’s SAC schedule, with big air and slopestyle action for both freeski and snowboard slated to go down at Argentina’s Chapelco resort from 19-23 September.
