With only 50 days remaining until the kickoff of the 2025/26 FIS Freestyle World Cup season, the pre-season is now entering its final and most intense phase. After a busy summer of training camps around the globe, including high-altitude sessions in Chile and Argentina, athletes are returning to the snow to fine-tune the last crucial details before the competitive season officially begins in December.

As the Northern Hemisphere transitions from autumn to winter and temperatures begin to drop, freestyle skiers are shifting their focus back to on-snow training. Two familiar venues, Hintertux in Austria and Idre Fjäll in Sweden, once again stand out as the ultimate pre-season training hubs, attracting national teams from around the world.

Adding to the excitement, both locations will also host FIS Open competitions, giving rising talents a chance to measure themselves against some of the sport’s most established World Cup athletes.

Hintertux – Austria’s high-altitude hub

Located at over 3,000 meters, Hintertux Glacier continues to be one of the premier early-season destinations for freestyle skiing. This year’s training camps are already underway, running from October 10 to November 16, welcoming a wide range of international teams preparing for the upcoming season.

Beyond serving as a top-tier training venue, Hintertux will once again host a packed competition schedule. The FIS Open and Moguls Alps Tour events will bring together both emerging and established athletes, offering invaluable competitive experience across multiple levels.

The Moguls Alps Tour will feature both junior and FIS-level competitions, utilizing two separate courses designed to suit each category and ensure a clear progression pathway for young athletes entering the FIS circuit.

The Moguls Alps Tour competition is scheduled for November 6, while the back-to-back FIS Open Moguls and Dual Moguls events will take place on November 7–8. These competitions will serve as one of the key early checkpoints in the pre-season calendar, helping athletes assess their form before the World Cup opener.

Idre Fjäll – Sweden’s premier freestyle base

Further north, Idre Fjäll continues its tradition as one of the sport’s most reliable and professional training environments. Its World Cup-standard course remains a favorite among teams looking to prepare under real-competition conditions.

Training in Idre has already begun, with sessions planned to continue well into the winter season. The venue’s combination of consistent snow, top-notch facilities, and experienced event staff makes it a cornerstone of the pre-season circuit.

Just days before the World Cup season begins, Idre will host its classic FIS Open and FIS competitions, providing one final opportunity for athletes to compete, evaluate their performance, and build momentum heading into December.

The FIS Open event is scheduled for November 22, followed by the FIS competition on November 23.

With these two world-class venues setting the stage, athletes, coaches, and teams are entering the final countdown toward another exciting season — one that also carries the extra buzz of being an Olympic year. The upcoming weeks in Hintertux and Idre will be crucial for refining technique, building confidence, and setting the tone for what promises to be an action-packed 2025/26 FIS Freestyle World Cup season.
