Two-time Olympic champion Jakara Anthony (AUS) has announced that she will take a break from competition for the 2026/27 season, stepping away from the World Cup circuit after more than 15 years of consecutive winters.

The 28-year-old Australian shared the news on Instagram, confirming that she will sit out the upcoming season before returning to competition next winter.

“After over 15 years of back to back winters it’s time for a break (and warmer weather!) No comps for me this season — see you back on tour next year!” Anthony wrote.

The announcement follows another successful season for Anthony, highlighted by her second Olympic gold medal at Milano Cortina 2026 and a seventh FIS World Cup Crystal Globe.

With 26 World Cup victories, seven Crystal Globes and two Olympic titles, Anthony has established herself as one of the most successful athletes in the history of women's moguls skiing.

Her achievements are particularly notable given the challenges she faced in the lead-up to the Olympic season. A broken collarbone sustained during training in December 2024 required surgery and brought her 2024/25 campaign to an early end, forcing her to miss the World Championships.

After months of rehabilitation, Anthony returned to World Cup competition in December 2025 with a victory in Ruka, Finland, before going on to claim the inaugural women's Olympic Dual Moguls gold medal in Livigno.

The Olympic triumph came just days after a disappointing eighth-place finish in the Moguls competition, where she had entered as the defending champion. Anthony responded with a strong performance in Dual Moguls, defeating Jaelin Kauf (USA) in the final to become the first Australian athlete to win two Olympic Winter Games gold medals.

She rounded out the 2025/26 campaign by securing another Moguls Crystal Globe, adding to an already impressive collection of World Cup titles.

Following a demanding period of injury recovery and Olympic success, Anthony will now take a year away from competition, with plans to return to the international circuit for the 2027/28 season.
