FIS wins 2025 Sport Positive Award for Inspired Innovation
Oct 08, 2025·Inside FISThe International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has been named the winner of the Inspired Innovation category at the prestigious 2025 Sport Positive Awards, held in London during the Sport Positive Summit. The award recognizes FIS’s groundbreaking work in developing the FIS CO₂ Calculator, a pioneering tool designed to help snow sports stakeholders measure, manage, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Launched in October 2024 as part of the FIS Impact Programme, the CO₂ Calculator was developed in collaboration with the Green Producers Club and is tailored specifically for the needs of National Ski Associations (NSAs) and Local Organizing Committees (LOCs). It empowers event organizers to assess emissions across key areas such as energy, mobility, logistics, and procurement—not only retrospectively, but also during the planning phase, enabling more sustainable decision-making from the outset.
The tool has already begun transforming how snow sports events are designed and delivered, offering a user-friendly interface backed by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and supported by training resources and workshops. Its adoption has led to more accurate emissions reporting and a measurable reduction in carbon footprints across FIS events.

The Sport Positive Awards celebrate global leaders in sport sustainability, spotlighting organizations that are driving climate action, biodiversity protection, and environmental justice. FIS’s win in the Inspired Innovation category underscores its commitment to leading the snow sports community toward a more sustainable future.
