General Information

Seefeld is located in the Austrian state of Tyrol about 17 km northwest of Innsbruck. It is one of the most popular Tyrolean tourist destinations, in summer as well as in winter. It is surrounded by the Alps: the Wetterstein mountain range to the west and the Karwendel mountains to the east. Seefeld serves as an important centre for Nordic skiing. When Innsbruck hosted the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics, the Nordic events were held at Seefeld. It also was the host city for the 1985 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.

The venue

The first jumping hill was built in Seefeld in 1931 and named after ski legend Anton Seelos in 1948. In 2010, the old hill was demolished and in its stead two modern hills were build: a HS75 and a HS109 facility. The first Nordic Combined World Cup was held in Seefeld as early as 1982 and was actually the first Individual Gundersen competition to take place. Seefeld has become a fixture on the Nordic Combined calendar each year with a huge popular interest in the stadium and also along the cross-country tracks.

Nordic Combined TRIPLE

In the season of 2013/14, Seefeld becomes the venue of the first-ever Nordic Combined Triple. Designed to be a new season highlight, the Triple features three competitions on three consecutive days: Day 1 sees a 1-jump, 5-kilometre Prologue, on Day 2 a 1-jump, 10-kilometre Individual Gundersen competition is on and the Finale Grande on Day 3 consists of two jumps and a 15-kilometre cross-country race. The athlete take their results with them from day to day and the first man to cross the finish line on Day 3 is the Triple winner and will receive double the amount of World Cup points and extra prize money.
