Oslo (NOR): Hagen wins prestigious King’s Trophy

Ida Marie Hagen is the winner of the women’s Individual Gundersen competition in Oslo (NOR).

Mari Leinan Lund was in the lead after the women’s Ski Jumping round on the Midtstubakken HS 106.
 
30 athletes from 11 nations were on the Start List for a training jump, one trial round and the competition afterwards in Oslo (NOR) Thursday evening.

The furthest jump of the day was performed by Mari Leinan Lund with 99.5 meters. With 142.7 points the Norwegian secured the victory of jumping round and was the first one to start into the 5 km cross-country race today at the famous Holmenkollen stadium.

Rank 2 after jumping went to Gyda Westvold Hansen who reached 97 meters and collected a total of 137.5 points. The Norwegian went into the course 21 seconds after her team mate.
Overall World Cup leader Ida Marie Hagen (90 m, 122.6 pts) placed third, 1:20 min behind the leader.

Lund was able to maintain her lead over Hansen throughout the first 2.5km lap and was 22 seconds ahead of Hansen after half the race. Meanwhile, Hagen once again showed her strong skiing shape and reduced the gap to the leader to 49.7 seconds.

German Nathalie Armbruster, who was in 10th place after jumping, also worked her way up and was already in 6th place after 2.5 km, but wasnt able to catch up to the strong Norwegians.

On the last lap, Hagen closed the gap to Hansen and passed her after 4km. Shortly afterwards, the Overall World Cup leader managed to also catch up with her second teammate Lund at the top.

The two Norwegians entered the home stretch together, where Hagen prevailed and celebrated her 8th World Cup victory in front of the Norwegian Crown Prince and thus also won the King's Trophy.

Lund (+2.6 sec) came second, while Hansen (+37.9 sec) completed the podium sweep for Norway in third place.

With her victory Hagen also secured the Overall World Cup victory of the 2023/24 season.
