Rogla Snowboard Alpine World Cup: Stats Preview

● Rogla will host the ninth stage of the Visa FIS Snowboard Alpine World Cup. Rogla made its FIS Snowboard Alpine World Cup debut in 2013. This will be the 14th World Cup event in Rogla, Slovenia.

● The first Men’s Parallel Giant Slalom in Rogla’s World Cup debut in 2013 was won by Roland Fischnaller (ITA), who is still competing 13 years later. He won three World Cup races already this season.

● Last season’s Rogla Parallel Giant Slalom races in both genders were won by the future Crystal Globe winners: Maurizio Bormolini (ITA) and Tsubaki Miki (JPN).

● Maurizio Bormolini (ITA) won the Men’s Parallel Giant Slalom in Rogla last season, ahead of Elias Huber (GER) and Aaron March (ITA). This was one of three World Cup wins for Bormolini last season. He took the lead in the overall standings after the win in Rogla and was the leader until the end of the season, winning his first Crystal Globe.

● Tsubaki Miki (JPN) won the Women’s Parallel Giant Slalom in Rogla last season, ahead of Sabine Payer (AUT) and Elisa Caffont (ITA). This was one of four World Cup wins for Miki last season. Miki led the overall standings for most of last season ending with her first Crystal Globe.

● Roland Fischnaller (ITA) won the Men’s Parallel Giant Slalom in Simonhöhe last weekend, ahead of Fabian Obmann (AUT) and Aaron March (ITA). This was the 25th individual World Cup win for Fischnaller, his first coming in 2010. The 45-year-old Italian athlete, who will compete at his seventh Olympic Winter Games at Milano Cortina 2026, has won three World Cup races this season and is currently fifth in the overall standings.

● Italy has won seven out of the ten Men’s Parallel races held so far this season, with four different athletes. They placed at least two athletes on the podium in seven out of the ten men’s races. They also had a podium clean sweep in Carezza.

● The defending Olympic champion Ester Ledecka (CZE) won the women’s Parallel Giant Slalom in Simonhöhe last weekend, ahead of Michele Dekker (NED) and Zuzana Maderova (CZE). This was Ledecka’s first World Cup race of the season as she has focused on Alpine Skiing this season. It was her 26th World Cup win, and the 20th in Parallel Giant Slalom. Ledecka has now won six of her past seven individual Snowboard Alpine World Cup starts. Her performance came a few days after Ledecka finished third in the Alpine Skiing Super-G World Cup in Tarvisio, her first top-three finish in Alpine Skiing since 2024.

● Aaron March (ITA) is currently leading the Men’s overall Parallel standings, 24 points ahead of his countryman Maurizio Bormolini (ITA). There are currently four Italian athletes in the top six positions, and five Austrian athletes in the top 13 positions. There are currently no non-European male athletes in the top 10. The top non-European athlete is Arnaud Gaudet (CAN) in 14th position.

● Elisa Caffont (ITA) is tied in the overall standings with the defending overall champion Tsubaki Miki (JPN). Caffont is technically first due to the tiebreaker rules with more wins, but Miki leads the Parallel Giant Slalom discipline standings. Miki is also the only non-European athlete in the top 10.

● 16-year-old Malena Zamfirova (BUL) is currently 10th and is seeking her first career World Cup win.

● Maurizio Bormolini (ITA) won the 2024-25 Men’s overall parallel title ahead of Andreas Prommegger (AUT) and Daniele Bagozza (ITA). Only Italy and Austria were represented in the top 5 of the final 2024-25 Parallel standings. Gabriel Messner (ITA) finished fourth, and Benjamin Karl (AUT) came fifth.

● Tsubaki Miki (JPN) won the 2024-25 Women’s Parallel title ahead of Ramona Theresia Hofmeister (GER) and Sabine Payer (AUT). This was Miki’s first parallel title after she finished second the previous season. The same three athletes were in the first three positions of the 2023-24 season Parallel standings, with Hofmeister first, Miki second and Payer third.

● The current Olympic champion Benjamin Karl (AUT) has the most Men’s Parallel titles, with four: 2007-08, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2023-24.

● Andreas Prommegger (AUT) won the Men’s Parallel title three times. He has the most career top-3 finishes in the overall Men’s Parallel standings, he finished second five times and third twice. He is currently 13th in the Parallel standings this season.

● The last time there were no Italians or Austrian athletes in the top three of the Men’s Parallel standing was the 2005-06 season, when Switzerland placed three athletes in the top three.

● By winning the 2024-25 Parallel title, Tsubaki Miki (JPN) became the first non-European female athlete to win the Women’s Parallel title.

● Ramona Theresia Hofmeister (GER) and Ester Ledecka (CZE) have won four Women’s Parallel titles each, no other female athlete has ever won more than three Parallel titles. Ledecka is the only athlete, in both genders, to have won four consecutive Parallel titles, between 2015-16 and 2018-19.
