FIS Snowboard Halfpipe World Cup - Finals -

Cardrona Alpine resort, a friendly and relaxed winter resort, is located between Wanaka and Queenstown on the Southern Island of New Zealand.

Families and pros alike find the perfect terrain for their turns, tricks and jumps as Cardrona offers not only fine groomed slopes but also a fun park including big air and triple jumps as well as several jumps.

In addition, a monster pipe of the Olympic size attracts the most of the pros to train down under when in the Northern hemisphere everyone tries to relax on the beach working for the perfect summer taint, especially as a brand new lift was introduced mid of August 2011.

No wonder, that the Cardrona Alpine resort is once again the host of the Snowboard FIS World Cup season's kick off. It's the ninth time, that Cardrona opens the new winter season.

Like in 2013 and 2015, this winter's first slopestyle and halfpipe World Cup event will take place down under. Both World Cup events are once again part of the Audi quattro Winter Games NZ, the biggest recurring sport event of New Zealand which is meanwhile held biennially.

VENUE SITE

While Cardrona may seem to be a relatively modest resort by international standards - with four chairlifts, a vertical drop of 600m, and some 345 hectares of skiable terrain - when it comes to freestyle the mountain turns into a bit of a monster.

Boasting three terrain parks, two halfpipes, a ski/board cross course, and a purpose-built 30m big air jump, Cardrona's new school freestyle facilities are truly world-class.
