Canadian snowboarder Stian Langbakk gave the home crowd in Calgary one more reason to celebrate after he won the men’s Rail event on the last day of competition at the FIS Park and Pipe Junior World Championships on Sunday.

Langbakk used his 24th and 21st place finishes in Big Air and Slopestyle at WinSport Canada Olympic Park earlier in the week to his advantage on Sunday to top the men’s Rail final on 39.25 points, exactly one point ahead of Finland’s Pyry Poiso.

Dmytro Luchkin (UKR) was third on 37.88, which marks the 16-year-old’s third Junior World Championships podium of the week after he was runner-up in Big Air and third in Slopestyle.

During the final, Langbakk and Poiso posted the same trick total of 30.500 before Langbakk pulled ahead with his higher variety score of 8.750 compared to Poiso’s 7.750.

Langbakk consistently increased his trick score throughout the day, going from 23.625 in his qualification heat to 24.875 in the semifinal, then again upping the ante when it mattered most in the final to 30.500

Langbakk’s victory on Sunday also marks his first top-three result at a major international competition and his second career victory after the 16-year-old topped the Slopestyle field at a regional FIS event in January.

Prior to 2026, Langbakk’s best result was second place in Slopestyle at the Canadian national junior championships in March 2025.

The men’s Rail event on Sunday concluded six days of snowboard competition at the FIS Park and Pipe Junior World Championships. This is the first time that the Rail competition has been contested at the Junior World Championships.

Langbakk’s victory on Sunday was Canada’s only top-three finish at these Junior World Championships.
