Austria, Switzerland, and Norway first to unveil star-studded squads for Olympic season

Switzerland, Austria, and Norway, three of alpine skiing’s traditional powerhouse, are among the first nations to announce deep and ambitious rosters packed with seasoned champions and rising stars.
Swiss-Ski builds on a monumental season
Swiss-Ski comes off one of its most successful seasons in recent memory and isn’t slowing down. The 2024/25 campaign delivered 13 World Championship medals, first place in the Nations Cup, five Crystal Globes (one overall and four discipline), and an impressive 64 World Cup podiums.
The winning trend extended far beyond the World Cup level. Swiss athletes also claimed seven medals at the Junior World Championships, recorded 47 podium finishes in the Europa Cup, and locked in seven fixed spots for the World Cup next season—testament to the strength of its developmental pipeline.
In preparation for the Olympic year, 117 athletes have been selected across Swiss-Ski’s elite structures. The National Team now includes 21 members, featuring a strong female contingent with 14 women, and seven male athletes. Notably, 14 athletes are new to the national team level, earning their first-ever Swiss-Ski cadre status thanks to standout performances last season.
With proven stars like Marco Odermatt and Lara Gut-Behrami expected to lead the charge, and a wide pool of talent coming through the ranks, Swiss-Ski looks poised to continue its dominance on the global stage.

Austria gears up with depth and determination
The Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) has announced its roster for the upcoming World Cup season, confirming the inclusion of 367 athletes across eleven disciplines. Among them are 226 men and 141 women, all aiming to peak in an Olympic year that demands both excellence and resilience.
Of these, 100 athletes have been named to the alpine division, by far the most represented among ÖSV’s competitive branches. With a blend of established veterans and promising youth, Austria is clearly gearing up to reassert its dominance on the slopes.

Norway names compact but powerful A-Team
The Norwegian Ski Federation has also revealed its A-Team roster for the Olympic season—smaller in size, but rich in elite talent. On the men’s side, the team features heavy-hitters such as Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, Henrik Kristoffersen, Atle Lie McGrath, Timon Haugan, Fredrik Moeller, Adrian Smiseth Sejersted, and Alexander Steen Olsen.
For the women, Kajsa Vickhoff Lie and Thea Louise Stjernesund will lead the charge. This lineup underscores Norway’s focus on quality and medal potential, with several of these athletes already proven contenders on the World Cup and World Championship stages.
