Sep 12, 2025·Alpine SkiingA new landmark has been added to Slovakia’s sporting map: the Petra Vlhová Museum. Located in Drahovce, near Piešťany, the museum celebrates the Olympic champion’s journey from her childhood beginnings to the pinnacle of alpine skiing.
The opening ceremony brought together Petra, her family, team members, sponsors, partners, and loyal fans, the very people who first imagined the project and worked tirelessly to make it a reality. Miroslav Ledecký, who initiated the idea together with Petra’s father, Igor, explained:
Visibly moved, Petra expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved:
To mark the occasion, Vlhová donated her signed helmet from the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games, where she claimed historic gold in slalom.
A journey through Petra’s career
The exhibition retraces Petra’s story across several themes:
Childhood and preparation before the World Cup
World Championships and international victories
The Olympic dream, highlighted by her Beijing 2022 triumph
Fans can discover dozens of trophies, photographs, memorabilia, and bilingual stories, alongside a vibrant fan club corner capturing the unique atmosphere of World Cup grandstands.
A family affair
Personal touches are everywhere, from childhood photos selected by her mother, Zuzana, to the artifacts long kept by her father, Igor, before being displayed. Both parents expressed pride in seeing their daughter’s career celebrated in such a lasting way.
The Petra Vlhová Museum now stands as a tribute not only to one of Slovakia’s greatest athletes but also to the passion of the fans and community who supported her journey.
