Ingvild Flugstad Østberg returns to the international circuit at the World Cup opener in Ruka (FIN). One day before her 31st birthday, the Norwegian announced her comeback at a Press Conference by the Norwegian Ski Federation.

After taking a break for one season, Ingvild managed to turn around her health situation and fulfills all requirements for the Federation's health certificate. The Press release by the Norwegian Ski Federation states that she is thus ready for Cross-Country skiing and travels to the World Cup opening in Ruka. Due to a steady increase of performance, she will not race in the Norwegian's National opener in Beitostølen next weekend, but will be present with the team to test skis and courses as well as participate in media activities.

"My health is the most important thing. It is both a security and a privilege to be in a National Team that has the resources to help and follow-up on the way forward. In close collaboration with a strong and competent team from the Norwegian Ski Association and the Olympic Summit with a doctor, psychiatrist, nutritionist, coach and health team, I have managed to work my way back to test the performance in the ski track again. I am very grateful for what this experienced team has done and is doing for me," says Ingvild.

Ingvild is happy that the efforts she has taken show positive results. Efforts that consisted of a good plan and implementation of a diet, exercise and recovery: "I have eaten more and adapted to the training, now it works well. This is proof that I have been made aware of some habits - and habits - that I have worked to change, and that we have a system that works".

Øystein Andersen, the team doctor of the Norwegian Ski Team states: "The Cross-Country World Cup season is now only a few weeks away. Ingvild is followed up closely so that we are sure that her health is preserved even when she starts competing. It is important to follow a gradual increase after a long period of absence, therefore she does not start at Beitostølen, but the following weekend in the World Cup opening in Ruka".

"I look forward to being back on the ski track. The motivation to come back has been there all along. Still, it has been tough and every day has not been as easy but thanks to good people around me all the way, I have also had a good time."Ingvild Flugstad Østberg
