The FIS Rollerski World Cup season is about to kick off in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia. The event is organized by the Slovak Ski Association in cooperation with the International Ski Federation FIS and the City of Banská Bystrica. Within Slovakia, this is the premiere event in this relatively young, but very attractive sport. From 23rd to 25th July, over 500 Rollerski competitors from 15 countries have enrolled to compete daily in four categories (elite women, elite men, junior women, junior men).

The race is the first one of this years World Cup and hosts top domestic competitors and also representatives from countries such as Russia, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany. Big expectations are placed on Slovak racer Alena Procházková, a native of Banská Bystrica, who in recent seasons has also won the championship and the crystal globe in a series of rollerski races. Alena is also a multiple winner in some disciplines, so we believe that she will be just as successful at home.

The course is set along a 2.8km circuit in the city center.

The race weekend will conclude on Sunday after the endurance athletes will have proven themselves on the uphill section from Banska Bystrica to the village of Kordiky. The 10km races will be held in Classic technique and will be the crowning event of the first 2021 Rollerski World Cup season.
