Hetfleisch sweeps Grass Skiing Giant Slalom and Slalom honors in Tambre

The FIS grass ski season continued in Tambre (ITA) from 28 to 30 August, with three days of racing that also counted toward the Junior Cup standings and doubled as the Italian Absolute and Youth Championships.

Sunshine held for all three days and the organizers delivered a course prepared to perfection, giving 17 women and 20 men from four nations ideal conditions across the Super-G, Giant Slalom and Slalom.

Mastalli and Gritti open the weekend in the Super-G

Day one belonged to Nicole Mastalli (ITA) in the women’s Super-G. She stopped the clock in 41.60 to win by a comfortable margin from Lara Teynor (AUT), 0.94 back in second, with Nikola Fricova (SVK) third at 1.12.

The men’s Super-G could hardly have been closer. Lorenzo Dante Marco Gritti (ITA) took the win in 39.59, holding off Filippo Zamboni (ITA) by a single hundredth of a second, while Nathan Seganti (ITA) completed an all-Italian podium just 0.05 off the winning time.

Hetfleisch and Knor come out on top in the Giant Slalom

Day two saw Tina Hetfleisch (AUT) claim the women’s Giant Slalom in 1:09.52, with Fricova adding a second podium of the weekend in second at 0.41 and Aneta Koryntova (CZE) third, a further three hundredths back.

The men’s Giant Slalom produced another photo finish, Vaclav Knor (CZE) winning in 1:05.97 to edge compatriot Robin Polansky (CZE) by 0.06, with Gritti third at 0.30 to add to his Super-G victory.

Hetfleisch seals the double as Zamboni takes Slalom honors

Hetfleisch returned on the final day to win the Slalom in 1:02.92, completing a double that made her the only athlete to take two victories over the weekend. Koryntova was second at 0.56 and Teynor third at 1.16, both claiming a second podium of the weekend.

In the men’s Slalom, Zamboni went one better than his Super-G runner-up finish, winning in 58.41 from Nicolo Pettini (ITA) at 0.88 and Valentin Lemp Pfannenstill (AUT) at 0.96.

Hetfleisch and Seganti among the Junior Cup winners

With all three races also counting toward the Junior Cup, Teynor topped the junior classification in the Super-G before Hetfleisch took the junior honors in both the Giant Slalom and the Slalom, backing up her two outright wins.

In the men’s junior classification, Seganti came out on top in the Super-G, Knor followed his outright Giant Slalom win by leading the juniors in the same race, and Lemp Pfannenstill claimed the Slalom.

At the top of the overall Junior Cup standings, Teynor continues to lead the women’s classification and Seganti heads the men’s.

The FIS and Junior Cup circuit now moves on to Obří Sud (CZE), where the next stop is scheduled for 12 and 13 September.
