FIS Development Events
FIS Seminar
The FIS Seminar is held annually in conjunction with the FIS Spring Meetings, providing a platform for National Ski and Snowboard Associations (NSAs) and stakeholders to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and discuss key topics relevant to the development of snow sports worldwide. Every four years, the seminar is dedicated specifically to FIS Development and focuses on shaping the strategic direction of FIS Development programs.
In Spring 2026, the Development Seminar, titled “What We Build Today Matters,” brought together 90 participants from 55 NSAs across all regions. Through interactive workshops and discussions, participants identified key priorities for the future of snow sports development, including education, NSA capacity building, long-term athlete development, sustainable funding, regional cooperation, and strengthening the FIS Development Hub. A central outcome of the seminar was the recognition that development efforts should increasingly focus on building sustainable systems and organizational capacity to support long-term growth.
The key findings of the workshop are found in the document linked below:
FIS Development Orientation Session
The FIS Development Orientation Session is held annually online prior to the FIS Spring Meetings, except in years when the FIS Development Seminar takes place. The session provides National Ski Associations (NSAs) and other stakeholders with a comprehensive overview of the FIS Development Programs (FDP), including available support opportunities, application procedures, eligibility criteria, and key deadlines. It serves as an important platform to help participants better understand the resources and initiatives available through FIS Development and to prepare for the upcoming season.
