COC-M: Michael Hayboeck takes the win in Planica

In difficult wind conditions, that also lead to the cancellation of the trial round and various delays of the starting time of the competition, Michael Hayboeck could claim the win in the first of the Continental Cups in Planica (SLO).
The 30-year-old Austrian, who was third twice last weekend in Rena, was already in the lead after the first round with a jump of 139 m on the HS 138 hill. Hayboeck could successfully defend this top position with 138 m in the final and a total of 291.3 points.
Two jumpers tied for second on Saturday evening with a score of 283.9 points. Local hero Domen Prevc posted jumps of 135.5 m and 136 m, and after his first jump of 129.5 m, Jakub Wolny of Poland was able to move up from eighth to second with his second jump of 137 m.
Justin Lisso of Germany came in fourth, he was followed by Philipp Aschenwald of Austria and Norway's Joacim Oedegaard Bjoereng in fifth and sixth. Behind Maciej Kot of Poland (7th), Austrian Stefan Rainer (8th), Benjamin Oestvold of Norway (9th), and Slovenia's Jan Bombek (10th) completed the Top 10 in this difficult competition.
With his good sixth place today, Joacim Oedegaard Bjoereng could close the gap to overall leader Ulrich Wohlgenannt, who is still in first place with 798 points but he's competing in the World Cup in Lahti this weekend. The Norwegian is now only 20 points behind the Austrian, Thomas Lackner remains third (618 points).
The second competition in Planica starts on Sunday at 10:15 am CET.
