First World Cup in Oberhof and Ursa Bogataj takes the lead

It has been 23 years since Oberhof welcomed a Ski Jumping World Cup and it was the first time ever that women competed here. This place in Germany being rather known for his bad weather, sunny and spring conditions welcomed the 44 womens on  the HS100 this afternoon. With the longest jump (97,5m and scoring 131,1 points),  Olympic Champion Ursa Bogataj (SLO) won the qualification claiming the hill record at the same time.

Jumping in homeland, Katharina Althaus came second with 121 points, just followed by 0.8 points by Bogataj’s teammate Spela Rogelj.

Celebrating her first podium in Hinzenbach (AUT) end of February, Lisa Eder confirmed her good shape and finished fourth, being the best Austrian today. Teammate Marita Kramer, current leader approaching the cristal with 195 points advance and just two more competitions to go, was a bit disappointed as she finished eighth.

Slovenia remained strong with 4 jumpers in the top 6, Nika Kriznar finished fifth and Ema Klinec sixth. Winning in Oslo, Sara Takanashi remained the best Japanese with a seventh position.

Now taking part regularly to the top 10, French Josephine Pagnier finished ninth followed by Frida Westman from Sweden. The first Norwegian is Silje Opseth (14th)

A new nation came in this weekend with Switzerland competing for the first time. 16-year-old Sina Arnet from Einsiedeln, managed to qualify for tomorrow competition. Tetiana Pylypchuk from Ukraine managed to qualify too.

The competition continues on Saturday at 13.30 CET.
