Athletes & Storylines to Watch

Snowboard Women's Snowboard Slopestyle

Kokomo Murase (JPN) and Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (NZL) are set for another Olympic showdown in the Women’s Slopestyle final, just days after finishing one-two in Big Air. Defending champion Sadowski-Synnott topped qualification, delivering the highest-scored trick of the day, while Murase advanced in second after a strong opening run. With Big Air bronze medallist  Seungeun Yu (KOR) also through, the 12-rider final promises another high-level battle. For Sadowski-Synnott, already the most decorated women’s snowboarder in Olympic history, another podium would further extend her legacy.

There is a lot of expectation but I feel privileged to have that because I get to live my dream and get to snowboard every day. That's really cool. Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (NZL)

Nordic Combined Individual Gundersen Large Hill/10km

Jens Luraas Oftebro (NOR) targets a second Milano Cortina 2026 gold in the Individual Gundersen Large Hill/10km, aiming to carry on the legacy of four-time Olympic champion  Joergen Graabak (NOR). Fresh from his Normal Hill victory, the 25-year-old now steps fully into the spotlight following the retirements of Graabak and Jarl Riiber. He faces fierce rivals including  Johannes Lamparter  (AUT) and Eero Hirvonen (FIN), while drawing inspiration from his former idol, now a mentor on site. With confidence high and family support close, Oftebro has the chance to cement a new chapter in Norway’s Nordic Combined dominance.

I’ve been dominating [competitions], but I haven’t won any individual gold medal until now. It’s either been Jarl [Riiber NOR], Joergen [Graabak NOR] or someone else winning those gold medals. Jens Luraas Oftebro (NOR)

Freestyle Skiing Men's Freeski Big Air

Mac Forehand (USA) set the pace in a stacked Olympic Freeski Big Air qualification. In a field where 11 riders scored 90+ on at least one jump and triple cork 1800s still weren’t enough to guarantee a finals spot, margins were razor thin, with Matej Svancer (AUT) and defending champion Birk Ruud (NOR) close behind. Tormod Frostad (NOR) posted the night’s highest single-run score, underlining the depth of progression on display. With the same star-studded Slopestyle lineup returning, today’s final promises one of the most explosive showdowns of the Games, a fitting and spectacular end to the Big Air competition.
