The FIS Ski Jumping World Cup lands in Germany for the first time this season, with the sport’s leading female and male stars set to take on two contests each from Klingenthal’s Large Hill between 12-14 December.

Among those in action will be a 10-strong host-nation contingent, led by Philipp Raimund and Katharina Schmid, who are the highest-ranked German athletes in their respective overall World Cup standings so far this season.

25-year-old Raimund is in career-best form, having placed second and third across the two events in Wisla (POL) last weekend.

"I'm extremely excited about Klingenthal,” says Raimund, who is currently fourth in the race for the 2025/26 Crystal Globe.

“It's simply an amazing feeling to be able to jump in my first competition of the winter in front of a home crowd. For me, Klingenthal is the first big highlight of the season, because feeling the support of the fans is something really special.

Raimund continues; “Traveling to Klingenthal with good form from Wisla is even cooler and that's why I'm looking forward to making my next jumps in the Vogtland Arena."

Felix Hoffmann, Pius Paschke, Luca Roth and Andreas Wellinger complete Germany’s line-up for the men’s World Cup contests, which will take place across 13-14 December. Karl Geiger (GER), who won both of the men’s events on the hill in 2023/24, is not included.

Domen Prevc (SLO) currently leads the World Cup standings after his double-header victories in Wisla (POL), while the return of legendary ski jumper Stefan Kraft (AUT), following a break from the circuit to welcome his new child into the world, will make for an interesting sub-plot.

The women will begin their campaign on Friday 12 Dec, in what is only the third edition of the Klingenthal World Cup to feature World Cup races for female competitors.

Selina Freitag (GER) will looking to build on recent improvements and challenge for a first podium finish of the season.

The 2024/25 Crystal Globe runner-up began the current campaign with challenging 19th and 21st position finishes in Lillehammer (NOR), but has battled back into the top-10.

Freitag with sixth in Wisla’s first World Cup, giving her and the team optimism for the events ahead.

“Step-by-step it's getting better, the feeling for the better jumps is coming back,” says Freitag.

“I'm just happy we're heading to Klingenthal as I really like the ski jump there and my family will be there. The forecast is for above-freezing temperatures, but the jump crew is doing everything they can to ensure we have the best conditions.

Freitag continues; “The wind forecast for the weekend is also quite good – so we're approaching the whole thing with a positive attitude.”

Anna Hollandt, Anges Reisch and Juliane Seyfarth join Freitag and Schmid in Germany’s women’s World Cup line-up, with their coach, Heinz Kuttin, looking forward to “excellent” conditions at their home World Cup.

“We're really looking forward to it,” states Kuttin. “We need to keep working towards getting back on the podium – it was very close in Wisla last time, but we're getting closer and closer.

“In Klingenthal we can take our next step and further improve our performance curve."

Double World champion Nika Prevc (SLO) will look to build on her victory in Wisla’s second World Cup, having been disqualified from the first after it was discovered her skis were one centimetre too long in relation to her body weight.

Japan’s Nozomi Maruyama (JPN) still leads the World Cup standings by a sizeable margin, 134 points, despite finishing third and fourth in Wisla last time out.
