The accolades for halfpipe star Chloe Kim (USA) have been pouring in over the past week, with the 25-year-old three-time Olympic medallist getting some significant recognition from Time Magazine and the Laureus World Sports Awards.

First to fete Kim over the past few days was Time Magazine, who on 15 April included her in their annual list of the most 100 Most Influential People for 2026.

Kim’s blurb in the issue was penned by Tokyo 2020 Olympic overall gymnastics gold medallist Sunisa Lee, who celebrates Kim’s ability to, “(embrace) the grind of Olympic snowboarding and still (bring) so much style, confidence, and personality to everything she does,” before then going on to explain, “Seeing Chloe lead with that confidence means so much to me as an Asian American athlete. She’s showing young girls everywhere that they belong in spaces where they may not always see themselves, and that they can succeed without changing who they are.”

Then on Monday came the Laureus World Sports Awards, hosted by tennis star Novak Djokavic alongside our very own freeski queen Eileen Gu. There Kim earned Action Sportsperson of the Year honours, though she was not on hand at the awards ceremony in Madrid to receive her honours.

The 2026 win marks the third time that Kim has received the Action Sportsperson of the Year award, putting her second on the all-time list for the award behind only Kelly Slater and his four trophies. Monday’s presenter Eileen Gu herself claimed the honours in 2022.

After winning Engadin 2025 World Championships gold last March, Kim saw limited competition reps as she prepared to defend her two previous Olympic gold medals at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games. While she would fall just short in that bid for the gold medal three-peat, with her silver medal finish behind Gaon Choi (KOR) Kim nonetheless put herself atop the women’s all-time Olympic Halfpipe medal rankings with two gold and a silver.
